Michael Tilus is a student at SUNY College at Old Westbury, a senior majoring in Media and Communications. An enthusiast for all things media related, Michael focused his interests and energy into pursuing a career in public relations upon graduation in May 2013.
Michael was nominated at SUNY Old Westbury’s annual MAC Awards for producing and directing PSA on cyber-bullying in May of 2012. Filmed and edited on campus, the clip offered a realistic view of how bullying had spread off of school grounds and into the homes of students via online avenues. Additionally, Michael worked closely with Professor Joseph Manfredi in covering Glen Cove’s annual summer festival, Long Island Sounds. Bringing his infectious personality to viewers, he produced and appeared on the “Did You Know” segment and conducted street interviews with the residents of Glen Cove and promoted the lauded venue.
Adding to his growing and competitive resume, Michael also completed two successful internships. Both the Long Island Radio Group in Farmingdale, Long Island and The Thomas Collective, a public relations firm in Midtown, New York City offered Michael the necessary skills to further his ambitions. Adding to his resume, Michael found both experiences to be some of the most humbling and rewarding moments in his undergraduate career.
Michael’s hobbies include reading, writing, traveling and music. He can be described as a fun-loving, personable and goal-driven individual focused on being the best version that he can be of himself every day.
